Connects are check-in points that happen every quarter for full time employees and every month for interns. These check-in points serve as a time for you to brag reflect, and as a time for your manager to give you feedback (both good and bad).
As an intern, you will fill out two connects, one at the start of your internship, and one at the end.
You and your manager will each fill out three sections:
This section should contain information about what you've been up to since the previous connect. Ideally, this should showcase the work you said you were going to do for the looking forward section from the last connect, as well as anything that might have changed or been done in addition to what you planned. Especially as an Intern, this section should also showcase work that you did outside of your planned work, such as hosting an intern event, going to a conference, or assisting another MS employee on their project. Your primary goal here is to show that you've made an impact, as impact is the most important measure of how well you're doing at Microsoft.
This section focuses on what you will contribute in the next business period. You should include what your goals are, what your deliverables are, and their corresponding business impact. The goals you outline can be directly related to your intern project, but they can also be related to how you contribute to your team and to your business group, if applicable. You'll likely also see a question about diversity & inclusion, so be prepared to discuss how you will promote and embody these values. As mentioned in the previous section, business impact is crucial to Microsoft, so be sure you can elaborate on the value of your expected deliverables.
