Short answer: Yes. In the weeks before starting out at Microsoft, your team’s business admin (BA) (also known as an Executive Assistant) will reach out to you to fill out a form and provide an address. This usually happens early enough so that you have your equipment before you start, but not always. There are some occasions where you might not have corporate equipment on day 1. If this is the case you can consider InTune enrolling a personal device or talking to your team about using a Remote Desktop connection via a personal device to a corporate virtual machine.

In most cases, your team will send you:

• 1-2 Monitors (usually 2x 16:9 or 1x ultrawide, depends on the team)
• A laptop and/or a tower
• Keyboard
• Mouse
• Headset
• Spare Charger for Laptop
• Webcam

All of this equipment remains the property of Microsoft. When you return to the office, you are expected to return all of this equipment to the office with you. If you live outside of Puget Sound or don’t have a car, your admin will assist you when the time comes in getting a shipping label to ship it to the office.

If you were not given one of these, do not be afraid to ask for one.

Desk and other furniture

Microsoft does not provide a desk of furniture for work from home employees. There are however certain options that are available to you.

• If you are local to puget sound, you can arrange with your admin to borrow an ergonomic chair from the office. You will be expected to return this when WFH ends.
• Perks+ is a $1200/year fitness benefit that most FTE’s opt to select over the gym benefit. It can cover things such as a desk, chair, monitor arms and many many other categories of health and fitness supplies (including financial fitness like an advisor or getting your taxes done!). Anything you buy under this remains your property.
• $300 Work from Home expense account. This is funded by your team and is not entirely universal, but if absolutely cannot get the required supplies otherwise, you can talk to your manager about expensing up to $300 worth of supplies. Items purchased under this are Microsoft's property.
