Steps

  1. Phone screen
  2. 30 minute chat with a designer or recruiter
  3. Final Round
    1. 20-25 minute Portfolio Presentation
    2. 4 one-on-one Interviews with UX designers or researchers, UX managers, etc

First Round (UX designer/researcher chat)

Typically just to learn more about you and a high level overview of your work. Don't really get into the specifics of your work (such as by showing screens or numbers) but more talk about what you learned, what your role was, what sort of environment or product you worked on, etc.

Final Round (Portfolio Presentation and 1:1s)

<aside> 🎨 This is your opportunity to show off your work and you as a UXer!

Generally, they will not have looked at your portfolio before the interview, just your resume. Anything on your resume is 'fair game' in terms of techincal skills, softwares, design or research methodologies, etc.

Up to you on if you want to present 2-3. Projects can be a mix of work experience and school or course work.

The presentation format is usually expected to be a powerpoint, google slides, PDF, etc... Not pulling up your portfolio website. If it's in-person making sure you have an offline backup is valuable, and if you are presenting online this makes the viewing experience better as well as the ability to easily share it out.
